Psalm 119:97 – Oh, how I love all you've revealed; I reverently ponder it all day long. (MSG)
We recently had a holiday in Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. Each morning, we saw the sunrise at the front of the condominium. Each evening treated us to a different sunset across the Gulf of Mexico. Each afternoon, I would usually comment, "I wonder what the sunset will be like tonight." As I watched the sunset each day, I thanked the Lord for that day.
One morning, I was having my coffee on the balcony as the sun came up, and it dawned on me how my focus had been on the sunset each evening and how I had waited anxiously to see it, and I had not focused on the sunrise each morning. Why? Then the thought struck me: our sunset is a sunrise in another part of the world. It is the beginning of a new day on the other side of the earth.
God's beauty and His majesty are beautiful in both sunset and sunrise. I guess it is how you look at it — or in my case, didn't look at it.
Matthew 6:22 – Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. (MSG)
Prayer: Dear Jesus, Your beauty is upon us all the time, even when we don't take the time to notice it in our lives. We are sorry for the times we just go through a day expecting there to be another day for us. Help us to cherish each moment, and to recognize You, the Creator, in all the gifts of each day. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
