Luke 12:7 – Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (NIV)
Psalm 104:24 – How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. (NIV)
A member of my Garden Club presented a program on butterflies. She gave each of us a monarch butterfly cocoon to take home for observation. We took the dry, gray, lifeless little ball home and ignored it, until one day, it turned black and moist. Many telephone calls were made as the excitement of watching the butterfly emerge was shared by the members in the club.
When the metamorphosis was complete, I took my newborn miracle outside and set it free. I watched while it pumped its new wings, working up to its moment of first flight. It flew around the yard until it developed confidence in its new wings, then disappeared from my view.
I've been told that all monarchs end up in Mexico. I trust mine finds its way there. Having participated in its beginning, naturally, I wanted assurance of a happy ending.
If the life cycle of the monarch is so carefully planned, how much more can mankind, whom God created a little lower than angels, expect? Even the very hairs of our heads are numbered. How much more has God planned for us!
God even sent His only Son to earth to tell and show us how to find the totality of the plans He has for us. If God cares enough to give the monarch strength to fly long distances, how much more can we, who were made in God's image, expect, once we have found God's plan for our lives?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the great plans You have for all Your creatures. May we, who are created in Your image, find Your plan and live our lives in such a way as to carry out Your design for our lives. Thank You for Your Son, Who showed the example, and for the faith that guides us along the way. Amen.
