You Too Can Wear A Size Four

Listen to this devotional:

Romans 13:14 – But clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and make no provision for [indulging] the flesh [put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature] to [gratify its] desires (lusts). (AMP)

New Year's Eve was fast approaching and the pressure was on. What to wear? The same old tacky (meaning I am so tired of it!) from six years ago? (Be grateful it still fits!) Buy something new for a totally outrageous price and wear it every New Year's Eve for the next twenty years? Sigh. What to wear? What to wear? Then I remembered the skirt I had bought for a dollar at the thrift sale. Absolutely exquisite fabric, black sheer embroidered with multi-coloured threads. Perfect. Except that it is size four, and I definitely am not. Thankfully, I know how to sew. I cut the lining out, removed the zipper, opened the rest of that seam and finished the edges. I sewed sleeve openings into the end, plopped the waistband over my head, added a brooch, and voila! I had an expensive cape, which I wore over simple black slacks and top. Compliment after compliment came my way, for a formerly unwearable skirt!

Isn't that just how Jesus appears in our lives? We are what we never thought we could be. We do what looks like the impossible. All because we chose to put on the Lord Jesus Christ, the One-Size-Fits-All God.

Prayer: Dear God, we bless Your name and we thank You for all the wonderful things You have done in our lives. We are so grateful that we have clothed ourselves with Your Son, Jesus. What a difference He (and You) have made in our lives. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
