Whiter Than Snow Christmas

Listen to this devotional:

Isaiah 1:18 – "Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord, "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool." (NKJV)

Psalm 51:7 – Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean, wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. (NKJV)

Since moving to Alberta where there is more snow (usually) than on Vancouver Island, I have been looking forward to a white Christmas. Like many who were raised in the frozen areas of Canada, I am once again dreaming of a white Christmas: after fresh fallen snow, everything looks so clean and new, and not dirty.

Thinking about this reminded me about our Christ, who came to earth for the sole purpose of washing us clean — whiter than snow. If we turn to Him in faith and repentance, He will forgive our sins and wash us far whiter than snow. Instead of feeling harsh and dirty, we will feel soft and clean like white wool, wool from the Lamb of God.

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear Father God, as the celebration of Jesus' birth draws nigh, may we in all humility draw nigh unto You and confess our sins. You have promised that if we do so, You will forgive us, we will be whiter than snow, and we will not have to dream about a white Christmas any more, for we will always have a white Christmas in Christ. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
