Matthew 21:9 – Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! (NRSV)
Advent: a time of waiting, preparing, expectation. Even in the rush of life, a moment of silence and observation enters the heart that is open to the reason for the season.
We know that peace comes from God's peace, that joy comes from His joy, and that love comes from the love of God.
God has given so much out of His love, and when His love reaches us, we are able to love those in our lives we think unlovable.
The Lord of all did not look and say, "I'll love the lovable and those who are easy to love." What He did say was that He would them regardless.
When the first Advent candle lights a room a little, the second a little more, and the third and fourth finally fill the room with brightness, isn't it as if our hearts are filled with joy that our waiting is over, that Jesus has come to us as a little baby and we as big people look at the baby in whom we have been given a gift from God? God's love came down to earth in a small bundle of a baby. Who would not love a baby?
Prayer: God of love, thank You for the season of Advent. Help us to prepare our hearts for the celebration of the birth of Your Son. Help us each to become a child at Your feet and to bow down before our King, Your Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
