Give Thanks

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing"1 (Lyrics)

Colossians 3:17 – And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (NIV)

After the service concluded and I sat to listen to the postlude, a tap came on my shoulder, and I was asked about how things were going. I proceeded to talk with this person, along with another. Then at what I felt was the conclusion of the conversation, I stood, only to have this person ask if I would like prayer.

I can't really tell the feeling that came over me as I sat back down and we joined hands in prayer to God. Near the conclusion, I was asked if I wished to close the prayer. In closing, I did pray, and gave thanks. I don't remember what it was that I said, but I felt that I had given myself into the hands of the Holy Spirit.

I have prayed aloud for others, but I don't ever remember someone actually asking if they could pray for me personally, and on the spot. It was a treasured moment in the presence of God.

2 Corinthians 13:14 – May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. (NIV)

I suppose the message I wish to convey is how wonderful it is to have Christian friends who respond to the Holy Sprit's lead in prayer.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we give thanks to You for Your prompting to help others in need of payer in all circumstances and at a moment's notice. Thank You, Jesus, in Whose name we pray. Amen.
