Psalm 91:4 – He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. (NIV)
We used to live near a brook that was home to many ducks. One particularly blustery morning, my dog and I were walking by the brook and saw an unusual number of tiny ducklings in the icy water. At the end of our walk, we sat on a bench and watched the ducks in the brook. My bulldog was nestled next to me, and the warmth of her body was keeping me from shivering too much. Those little ducklings were huddled too.
As if on cue, the mother duck called from the far end of the brook. All the little ones stopped and listened. As fast as they could, they swam to her side. Carefully, she spread her wings and covered them so that not one could be seen. What a perfect visual of today's verse, Psalm 91:4!
That is what God does for us on the blustery days in our lives. He covers us with Himself, and we are kept safe and sheltered. What an amazing God we serve!
Prayer: Dear God, when we are experiencing stormy days and trials are bogging us down, help us to remember that You are our shelter and covering. We need only listen and hear Your voice calling us to the safety of Your wings. We praise You! Amen.
