Listen to this devotional:

John 3:16 – This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. (MSG)

Revelation 3:20 – Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I'll come right in and sit down to supper with you. (MSG)

Years ago, we stayed in a little cabin in Banff, Alberta, Canada, while on our way to British Columbia to visit relatives. It was a neat little cabin with a few rooms in it. We thought we had locked the door before retiring. None of us checked it though — we just presumed it was done. In the middle of the night, though, the door opened and someone came into our cabin. We presume he had rented a cabin next door to ours. As soon as he knew he was in the wrong cabin, he left hurriedly, likely embarrassed for intruding. We had not invited him in. He did not knock. He just came in. We did not know this man.

We have a room — a cabin, if you will — in our lives as well. Someone is standing at the door knocking, waiting for us to say, "Come in." His name is Jesus. He wants to come in and give us eternal life. All we have to do is open the door and let Him in. Sometimes even after Jesus is in our cabin, we don't want Him to dine with us. We stubbornly refuse to let Him sit down to have supper with us. We are missing out on so much. He wants that relationship with us.

Let's be sure that we have asked Jesus Christ to come in to dwell in our cabin. Once He is with us, let's remember to have supper with Him. May we ever let Him teach us and guide us, and may we ever learn from Him.

Psalm 46:10 – Be still, and know that I am God. (KJV)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are so patient, waiting while You are knocking on our heart's door. Thank You. Help us to be still so that we can know that You are God. Teach us, we pray. Amen.
