2 Peter 1:5-7 – For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. (NIV)

When I needed a mentor, a woman who would help me to be all that God desired for my life, I asked God for help, and then took honest inventory. I asked the Holy Spirit for help in my weaknesses. I found ten verses that spoke to my most difficult area, wrote them out, inserted my name, and began to say them aloud every day.

Next, I asked God to give me my new mentor's name. I approached that person and asked her to consider this task prayerfully. We began to meet every four to six weeks to work through my 3 Ps — progress, problems, and plans!

My life began to change. When I was willing to stop fighting my problems alone, God provided someone to encourage me along His path for my life. It is much easier to be successful when we are accountable to another person.

Proverbs 16:3 – Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed. (AMP)

Prayer: Lord, we confess that we are not all we can be, because we keep parts of our life in the dark. Yet You see them, Lord. Give us courage to expose our weaknesses to a godly, trustworthy friend who will point us toward You and Your strength. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
