Hebrews 11:8 – Abraham trusted God, and when God told him to leave home and go far away to another land, which he promised to give him, Abraham obeyed. Away he went, not even knowing where he was going. (TLB)
When the Monarch butterfly landed on my knee, I let myself pretend that it was the one that I had met the year before. It was charming to think that it had made the very long journey from Mexico, just to say hello to me. Someone, however, told me the truth about my insect friend.
Apparently, the Monarchs leave Mexico, cross the Gulf of Mexico, and hatch a brood of young in Texas. That brood hatches more young in Virginia and finally the fourth generation arrives in Canada! No one told them where to go next. They just seem to know that the "going" is the important thing.
Abraham lived his life like the Monarch. God called. He went. How about us? Called to go anywhere for God? Don't know where or how or why? All that doesn't matter. What does matter is that we know our Travelling Companion, and that we act on the when. The when is now.
Prayer: Lord, our feet are hesitating. Please travel with us and give us a push if need be. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
