Ezekiel 24:13a – Now your impurity is lewdness. Because I tried to cleanse you but you would not be cleansed from your impurity, you will not be clean. (NIV)
Psalm 51:11 – Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. (NIV)
Often, I have heard of products for cleaning. It seems that there is nothing that can't be cleaned, so long as one has the right product. Some of these products are known by initials, like CLR, TSP, or WD40.
This brought to my mind something I received in feedback referring to God's Holy Spirit (GHS) as a cleansing agent. I don't mean to be insulting, or for that matter flippant, in my mannerism of using initials for God's Holy Spirit, but in today's generation, everything seems to need a shortcut.
We on this earth all need GHS Cleansing Agent kept on hand for emergencies, when things happen that we are not expecting. Many times, without anticipation, accidents occur that lead to suffering, sometimes ill health, and even death, and we begin to doubt God's love for us. That's when we need to reach for GHS, the only and best cleansing agent we could have on hand in times of crisis.
Now, if we could only get today's generation to use GHS at all times, we would all have it made. Let's ponder for a moment. As believers, we have GHS at all times within ourselves, continually cleaning away all of our sin and making us whiter than snow. GHS, the cleansing agent for all, is given to us by Jesus, Who paid the debt for our sins and then was resurrected. He sent us the Holy Spirit, given freely to each one of us.
Prayer: Dear Lord, come close to each one of us in days of joy and in days of trouble. Cleanse us with Your Holy Spirit. Be ever present with us in all circumstances, and grant us Your peace that passes all our human understanding, as we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
