Listen to this devotional:

Mark 10:27 – Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." (NIV)

Luke 18:27 – He replied, "What is impossible from a human perspective is possible with God." (NLT)

Impossible: Not capable of being accomplished.

There are days when I feel like whatever I am trying to do or get done is impossible. Something or someone will get in the way of what I want to accomplish. Honestly, it is mostly me getting in the way of what God wants to make possible.

I like to play with words. The word "impossible" has a totally different meaning than the word "possible". The verses above state that what is impossible for us mere human beings is possible with God. When I am out of the way, God can accomplish what I cannot do, and things become possible.

Possible: having an indicated potential, able or fitted to be or to become.

With God, our lives become full of potential to become more like God. Others notice the light that knowing Jesus gives us. Sometimes this makes it possible to witness and to lead others to what we receive as sons and daughters of the King: the promise of a better life to come and an eternal home better than we can imagine.

Promise: indication of something favourable to come; expectation, indication of future excellence or success.

Galatians 4:28 – And you, dear brothers and sisters, are children of the promise, just like Isaac. (NLT)

There is a song by Bill and Gloria Gaither that has a verse:

    I am a promise, I am a possibility,
    I am a promise with a capital P.

When we get out of the way, give up the need for control, and let God work through us, our lives becomes the promise He wants us to be.

Prayer: God, You have given us an awesome promise that is impossible for us to receive on our own. Through Your grace, things that are impossible for us are possible with You. Help us to get out of the way and allow You to make it possible for us to share that promise with others. Thank You for sending Jesus as the ultimate possibility and promise. Amen.
