Looking For Change

Listen to this devotional:

Proverbs 20:27 – God is in charge of human life, watching and examining us inside and out. (MSG)

I recently went to get my hair cut. I have very straight and thick hair. Having hair like this, I have always kept it very short, but at times I have wondered what it would be like to have long, curly hair. The lady who was sitting next to me had long curly locks. She was there to get her hair cut short, and wanted the curls taken out!

Have you ever noticed that we are constantly looking for changes that we would like to see about ourselves? People who have straight hair would love to have curly hair. People who have curly hair would love to have straight hair.

Go figure! I guess life is like this: the areas we think are fine are the areas about which God gently says, "No, we are going to work on this." On the other hand, the areas we want to work on are ones which God says are fine, and He calls us to rest in Him.

Philippians 4:11 – Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content. (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear Jesus, we are sorry for the times when we should have turned to You for the changes that we feel we need to make in our lives. We are sorry for the times when we have tried to go it alone, when in fact, we should have been drawing closer to You. Thank You for the love and patience which You always show to us, and for Your faithfulness in our lives. Amen.
