Grace

Listen to this devotional:

2 Corinthians 12:9 – And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." (NASB)

Acts 5:29 – Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. (KJV)

A few years ago, I had a falling-out with some people whom I loved and who had supported me through the years. There were many misunderstandings. Until recently, I had not seen most of these people for a very long time.

Most of them were at a conference which I was attending. The messages given during the conference were very powerful. In the morning, God impressed on my heart that I should go and hug these people. I argued with God for a while about it. I was filled with fear — fear of their reactions, fear of judgement, fear of rejection. God reminded me that He has "not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV) God did win out. He assured me of His promise in our text for today: His grace is sufficient. As soon as the lunch break came, I made my way quickly to find them. With no explanation, I hugged each one of them. It helped to heal my heart even more.

Let's always keep in mind that whatever God asks us to do, He will give us the grace to do it. Fear does not come from God. He gives us the spirit of love and power. Let's obey God — rather than listening to our fears.

Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for Your grace that is bountiful and sufficient to meet our every need. Help us to claim that truth as ours. Amen.
