Through The Eyes Of A Child

Isaiah 42:3a – A bruised reed he will not break and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. (NIV)

I recently celebrated a birthday. Birthdays are something that I have not been able to embrace until this year. Most of my childhood birthdays have been a blur. Over this past year, though, God has been walking me through so many gentle and healing memories, and this birthday was another one of them. I saw my birthday through the eyes of an eight-year-old child; I was blessed as we celebrated together with friends who had planned this celebration — as our birthdays were only one day apart.

Towards the end of the meal, a container was passed around the table for each of us to take a card with a verse of Scripture and read it. The cards had not been organized in any order and we were to take the one on top as it came to us. This was my verse:

Matthew 6:8 – Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him. (KJV)

Let us take some time to reflect on how the Spirit of God and the hand of God are at work in our lives. If we are open to seeing and hearing, I am sure that we won't need to search very far to sense and to see in our lives the power of God, our loving Father.

Matthew 6:26 – Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear Jesus, we are so very thankful for the truths we find in Your Word. We give glory to Your name, and we praise You for all the times You have shown Your care about all the details in our lives. Amen.
