Handmade By God

1 Peter 3:15 – But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. (NIV)

As a new Christian, I have always found today's Scripture to be an intriguing verse. Just a few Sundays ago, our pastor used this verse in his sermon. This week I was given an opportunity to see this verse put into action.

In the mall, I was attracted to a Christmas craft table. As I walked around the table looking at the beautiful items, the lady running the booth spoke to me. She said, "All the items are handmade, including me." I found myself replying to her, "Yes, you are handmade, handmade by God." She smiled and said, "You are right about that." I found myself being very surprised at having an answer for her.

What was more amazing was the faces of the other people who were around us. They seemed very surprised at what had been said. I got such a sense that seeds had been planted into the other people that day by the Lord. "Yes, you are handmade, handmade by God."

How many times we miss opportunities to share Jesus with people, or walk away and then think, "Oh, I wish I had said…" or "I should have said…". I am thankful that I was given an opportunity to point to God's glorious hand in our lives. Let's be alert to opportunities that come to each of us to share what God has done in our lives.

Galatians 1:15 – Even then God had designs on me. Why, when I was still in my mother's womb he chose and called me out of sheer generosity! (MSG)

Ecclesiastes 3:11 – He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, we praise and thank You that we are handmade by You and that You knew us in our mothers' wombs. Please help us always to have an answer that will exalt and glorify Your name. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
