Luke 1:44 – As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. (NIV)

I was feeling tired and weary one morning, and the busyness of Christmas was beginning to get me down. I took the garbage bags out to the sidewalk in the bitterly cold pouring rain, and then slouched into my car to go to the office. As I carefully backed out of the driveway, I flicked on the radio and listened to the news, which wasn't very good.

I switched channels, and, all of a sudden, my world became brighter. Perry Como was singing "Frosty the Snowman". I soon found myself smiling and singing along with him. The grinch within me had been vanquished. Christmas had come alive again!

I wonder if that's how John the Baptist felt in Elizabeth's womb. As soon as he hears Mary and feels the presence of Jesus, he jumps for joy! Even a fetus can be touched by the Spirit of God. Even a tiny babe in its mother's womb can know the joy of our Lord!

Wherever we are today, let Christ's Spirit touch our souls. Let His joy fill our hearts and let His love bless our lives.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, even tiny babies felt Your powerful presence and wonderful love. Today, let us experience Your joy and jubilation, Your blessings and grace. In Your holy name, we cheerfully pray. Amen.
