Luke 1:30-33 – Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end." (NKJV)

I was searching for a greeting card for a favoured person in my life, and I was thinking of buying it from the company that uses a popular slogan about caring enough to send the very best — a card that would show just how very much I loved the person. To my dismay, I found that this store in our local area had closed down. I purchased a nice card, but not the one I really wanted.

It then came to my mind that when God favoured Mary, as related in today's Scripture verses, He indeed cared enough for us to send His very best. There is a big difference here, as God does not close down on us. He is always there whenever we seek Him. His store of love is always available to us through His Word in the Holy Bible, and whenever we seek Him, we will find Him.

Luke 2:14 – Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men! (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, as the season draws nigh once again to celebrate the coming of your Son Jesus amongst us, may we ever be mindful of Your great gift, and, like the heavenly host, shout, "Glory to God in the highest!" and pray for everlasting peace in this world of turmoil. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
