1 Peter 5:8 – Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger] seeking someone to seize upon and devour. (AMP)
Matthew 4:10-11a – Then Jesus said to him, Begone, Satan! For it has been written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone shall you serve. Then the devil departed from Him. (AMP)
I have learned quite a bit about the Christian walk and its challenges, just by getting together with Christians and listening as they shared their personal experiences. We were not only bonded together, but we realized temptation was a common ground for all Christians and also for our great Redeemer, Christ Jesus. We do not know the conditions under which Jesus chose to share with His disciples the occasion when Satan tried to tempt Him in the wilderness. They could have gathered under the stars around a bonfire to warm themselves from the crisp, cool night air, while Jesus went into great lengths to tell them about His experience.
Peter describes Satan as a roaring lion. Recently, I was being chased by that lion. Jesus used the Word of God as a weapon. It seemed to me that the Christian television media were mentioning the right verses of Scripture for me to use as a weapon in my defence against this enemy. Then my own pastor expounded upon another appropriate passage of Scripture. It was Satan, in fact, who was being constantly bombarded by the Word of God. Then he just seemed to disappear out of my thought pattern!
What a comfort it is for every Christian to know, when we are experiencing Satan's attacks, that our Saviour experienced far more insidious temptations than we do, and because He was victorious, we shall be also.
Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your precious Son, Christ Jesus, Who came not only to sacrifice His life that we might have eternal life in heaven, but also to show us the way of victory in our daily life, today and every day. Amen.

Tuesday, November 28, 2023 – In Cuba — Pray that Los Pinos Nuevos(LPN) pastors would serve with passion, always guided by God amidst this current crisis in Cuba, and that they would always show love in practical ways as they proclaim the gospel. Pray that each LPN pastor would have a vibrant spiritual life of communion with God and dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
