Jeremiah 33:3 – Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things which you do not know. (NASB)
When our children were small, we never made a point of keeping communication open. Often when they would ask questions, we would hush them up for one reason or another. So by the time they were teenagers and we needed that openness, it wasn't there. We had blocked the honesty and openness which are so important in a family.
Many parents today are doing so much better in this area. They have told their children to be sure to ask anything at any time. They have emphasized the importance of communication.
Recently, I saw a nine-year-old girl ask her mom a question. The timing was not good, and the question was a difficult one. Thoughts were zipping through her mother's mind. She came to the conclusion that she had to answer, because she had told her children to ask anything, any time. So she answered, and her daughter bounced away satisfied.
God is so willing to answer us — any question and at any time. He will tell us great and mighty things that we know nothing about — if only we will ask Him. How great He is!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that You tell us to call to You. This shows that You are interested in us. You promise that You will answer us, that You will tell us great things, mighty things that we know nothing about. Help us to be ever mindful to ask You anything at any time. Amen.
