Lying Dormant

September 12, 2005

Psalm 62:5 – My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him. (KJV)

Before long, it will be time to think about planting fall bulbs, like tulips or crocuses or narcissuses. Every time I plant some, I think about them being in the cold, frozen ground all winter. And yet in order for them to bloom beautifully in the spring, they must lie dormant all winter and wait for spring. When the warmth of the spring sun heats the ground, the bulbs grow quickly and produce bright flowers for us to enjoy.

There are times in our lives when we must lie still and wait as well. It could be a time of refocusing in our lives. Spring will come, and we will grow quickly after feeling the warmth of the Son in our hearts.

Psalm 46:10 — Be still, and know that I am God. (KJV)

Prayer: Thank You for the dormant times in our lives. At times, they seem a waste of time. Help us to be still and know that You are God. Spring will come and we will bloom. Please use us to bless others. Amen.
