Psalm 30:10 – Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me; O Lord, be my help. (NIV)
Hebrews 13:6a – So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid." (NIV)
For the past two weeks, we've been kept busy, helping our daughter to move. Some of the heavy pieces of furniture would have been almost impossible to move without the help of the dolly that my husband bought several years ago when we ourselves were moving. I've watched my husband manoeuvre a heavy steel file cabinet, a fridge, and a large dresser — just to mention a few — that he couldn't possibly have moved in his own strength.
As I watched him, I couldn't help thinking how much that resembles our Christian walk. There are many things in life that are just too difficult for us to handle in our own strength. But we, too, have a helper — God's Holy Spirit — Who enables us to do things we couldn't possibly do in our own strength, things we never imagined were possible.
When we are weak, He is our strength. We don't have to journey alone. God is always with us, ready to share our burdens and lighten the load.
Isaiah 41:10 – Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. (NKJV)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, our helper in times of trouble. Make us ever mindful that You are always with us and that nothing is impossible for You. Thank You for the faith and confidence that is ours when we walk daily with You. Grant us the strength we need to fulfill Your purpose for our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
