Listen while you read: "Rock Of Ages Cleft For Me"1 (Lyrics) |
John 1:1,14 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father. (RSV)
Recently, I decided, as part of my legacy for my children, to compile into a small book some of the devotionals I have written. Afterward, it occurred to me that I might make a copy of the book available to some of my friends as a reminder of my ministry with them. I have been surprised by the numbers who have actually paid to purchase copies. Although most of these folk have heard my words over the years when I was their minister, it was quite a surprise to see their delight when they could hold this little book of my written words in their hands, even asking to have it autographed!
It seems that words still have a certain magic among us, especially when we can hold them in our hands and see them in physical form.
Again we can only wonder and rejoice at the wisdom of God, Who, when He wanted to become more visible to us, and Who was the Word in the beginning, decided to become flesh! How excited John seems when he boasts that he and others have now seen His glory! What a joy for each one of us who has come to know Jesus and His glory — because He became flesh!
Prayer: With joy, O God, we have seen Jesus, Your risen, glorified Son. We look forward to the time when, as promised, we shall see You face to face, and we shall be like You! As we wait for that day, we thank You for this gift which has given us life and peace. Amen.
