Sharing Our Stories

John 1:6-7 – There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. (NIV)

Recently, I heard a group of Christian women on fixed income lamenting that they had nothing to give the church and the kingdom of God. Someone in the group replied, "We can share our faith stories with others. Every Christian has a faith story to share."

"What a great suggestion!" someone else replied.

Let's decide how we can do this. We all have personal stories of faith to share with others. We never know who among us might need to hear the words or experiences we have to share. When we commit to tell our individual stories, God can take our words and scatter them in the paths of those who have a need to hear them. We can be an instrument to spread His words of comfort and encouragement by sharing with others what He has done for us.

There are many ways to share our stories. Writing them down is one good way. Once written down, a story has the power to touch others in later years. Stories may not have merit now, but by being available when the need arises, our experiences can benefit future generations. God not only uses speakers to convey His spoken words; He also uses writers to minister through the written word.

Revelation 1:19 – Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later. (NIV)

Prayer: Lord, give us the courage to share what You have done for us with others. Use us to spread Your word to others through whatever medium You choose. Through sharing our stories of faith, we enrich Your kingdom and we are blessed. Amen.
