Deuteronomy 7:22 – And the Lord your God will clear out those nations before you, little by little; you may not consume them quickly, lest the beasts of the field increase among you. (AMP)
My weight still isn't what I want it to be. I struggle daily to make right choices, like fruit instead of chocolate, or a tall glass of water rather than a second helping. I am not what I want to be, but thank God, I am not what I was.
I am no longer bulimic. I no longer consume an immense number of calories at a go. There are no more three-day food binges in my life, and I no longer steal food or hide while I consume it. Little by little, ever since I first asked Jesus to forgive my sins and come into my heart, little by little, He has been giving me victory over the "nations" of my life.
Your "nations" may not look like mine. Still when each of us checks the rear-view mirror of our life with Christ, we will see far more successes than failures. Just for today, let's recognize the truth: God has been working, little by little, in our lives. While too often we have been concentrating on what we aren't, God is delighted with our small regular steps of success.
Prayer: Lord God, forgive us for focusing on our failures and on what we are not. Today, we give You thanks for all the "little by little" through which You have led us. We also praise You for all the others to come. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
