Psalm 91:4 – [Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler. (AMP)
It seemed that the tiny red car would be crushed by oncoming traffic. Speeding too fast along the highway, the driver had misjudged his passing distance. Another car was hurtling down upon him. There was nowhere to go — or was there?
My husband Ron couldn't believe his eyes. He blinked. It was still there. The tiny little sports car and driver were safely tucked under the huge tractor-trailer they had tried to pass. It looked impossible, but there they were, safe from all the other vehicles. When all danger was past, the driver took a more believable driving spot behind his unexpected protection, the truck.
Miraculous story, isn't it? But unusual? No, not really. How many times have we rushed ahead of our protection, the living God, only to realize at the last minute that we have stepped into danger? Fortunately, we can choose to slide back under His wings to safety and then choose to walk in obedience, following where He would lead us.
Prayer: Lord, we have been on the wrong side of the highway. We have been whizzing along at a pace You didn't set. Forgive us for placing ourselves in danger. Right now, Lord, we are stepping back under the safety of Your wings. In Jesus' name. Amen.
