Psalm 100:4 – Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. (NIV)

Leah, our choir director's little girl, is a bouncy four-year-old with long blond curls and plenty of energy. One Sunday morning recently, I couldn't help but smile as I, from my position in the choir loft, watched her bound up the aisle ahead of her father. Her face was all smiles as she clutched her small Bible in one hand and her stuffed toy in the other. She never stopped bouncing until she found an empty seat near the front of the sanctuary.

Later that same day, our choir was invited to sing at the park in an outdoor service honouring our town's Centennial. Once again I had the privilege of watching this same little girl arrive at the service. This time she was wobbling along on her bicycle complete with training wheels, riding slightly ahead of her dad. As she neared the grandstand and heard the music, she pedalled harder and faster and didn't stop until she was right in front of the soloist. As I watched her smiling face and enthusiastic entrances to services of worship on these two separate occasions, I thought, "That's how God wants us to come into His house." Perhaps not dancing as little Leah, but with smiles and thanksgiving in our heart for the wonderful things He has done for us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the joy we can have when we focus on all You have provided for us: the beauty of the earth, our salvation, and a home with You in heaven. Amen.
