Isaiah 52:7 – How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" (NIV)
Psalm 84:11 – For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favour and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. (NIV)
One recent morning as I looked out my window, I was greeted by a tinge of pink sky in the east. Later, as my husband and I were having our quiet time, the sun came streaming through our window, and I thought of how much I missed the early morning sunrise as it peeked over the hills in our former home in West Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Many a morning as I watched its slow climb, I stood in awe at our bedroom window as the rays of golden flame broke forth in glorious splendour, pushing aside the night sky and reflecting in the lake below. "I miss the sunrise," I said to my husband. "Here in our new home we have beautiful sunsets, but we have a limited view of the early morning sun. The mountain behind our house gets in the way."
Life's like that, I decided. There are times in our lives when the "mountains" we are climbing get in the way of our ability to see the light from God's Son. But I'm happy to say that He is there for us. We may need to climb a little higher up the mountain in order to see Him, but as we continue our climb, the light of love sent to us by God's Son when He died for our sin comes shining through!
Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your Son, the light of the world, Jesus. Amen.
