Luke 18:7 – And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? (NIV)
James 5:16 – Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (NIV)
A writing course I once took required me to write three pages of Morning Notes to get my thoughts moving. We were to write about any subject that came to mind. The first page was a usually-dry diary-type note, but as I wrote with a fresh mind early in the morning, I found it easy to talk to God, and my notes ended up being a letter to God as I shared my thoughts and prayers, and laid my burdens before Him.
This soon became a way of daily praying. As I wrote, I told God of my problems, my plans, and my yearnings. I began to feel connected to Him in a new way. As the questions and doubts arose in my mind, I poured them out to the One who knows all the answers, and I began to find the answers coming.
It doesn't matter what we call our moments spent in prayer — whether meditations, morning notes, or just plain prayer — making contact daily with our Creator and spending time with Him is what makes the difference in our lives. Prayer works.
Prayer: Lord, in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, we come before You using our gift of prayer. Extend to us Your power to spread Your Word to others, and use us as Your servants to help others who stand in need of prayer today. Amen.
