Finding God's Will

Habakkuk 3:19 – The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights. (NIV)

I don't know about you, but I've often wished that God would write His plans for my life down on a piece of paper and hand them to me. I know that I'd be frightened if I saw His handwriting on the wall, as it was in the book of Daniel, but lately, when I've been praying for direction, I've begun to feel that a note on a wall would work just fine. From time to time, I have prayed, asking God if I should continue with my writing. There seem to be so many things demanding my attention, and writing is a discipline — and often a lonely task.

I was left speechless, however, when the answer to my prayer actually came in the form of His handwriting. A friend had suggested that I read today's Scripture in Habakkuk. While I was flipping through the pages, looking for this particular verse, a heading in chapter two caught my eye: "The Lord's Answer". I stopped and read the next line:

Habakkuk 2:2 – Then the Lord replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. (NIV)

I'll admit, not all our answers to prayer are as direct as this, but God says that if we seek Him, He will direct our paths.

Proverbs 3:6 – In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. (KJV)

Prayer: Lord God, we pray that You will direct our paths today. Amen.
