Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. (NIV)

A young lady pulled up in a car next to Caroline and me as we walked to the local shops. She wound down the window, and asked if we knew the directions to a local street. As it was one that I thought I knew, I gave her the directions.

As we walked home, some doubt began to creep into my mind. I hoped that I had been correct; after all, I had been fairly certain at the time of telling! I thought that I was sure that it was a road close to where we live, so, on our arrival at the house, I walked on to check the street name, to see if it corresponded to the directions I had given. To my great delight, for I am easily pleased, it was the right road name.

As I came into the warm of the house, I pondered how we take our directions for granted. We know which way the kingdom of God is, and we know how to get there. What a great joy it is to know Him Who is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6), the Author and the Creator of all that is, including our salvation.

The last time that I checked with my Maker this morning, as I prayed and read my Bible to see the way my life was going, I am glad to say that I was once more reminded of the way to follow His directions. I believe that the next time someone asks me the way to eternal life, I will be able to give them the exact directions — without fear of getting it wrong, because they are there in the Word! If we all look to God's Word, we will find the way to eternal life, Jesus.

1 Corinthians 8:6 – But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we exist for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life. (NLT)

Prayer: Lord, grant us, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, wisdom, knowledge, courage, and insight to be effective agents here on earth for giving directions to Your eternal kingdom. Amen.
