A Picture Of Jesus Christ

Tuesday, March 2, 2004

One day as my daughter and I were sitting on a park bench watching her two little girls playing on the playground equipment, I was thrilled at what I saw. Sarah, not her real name, was swinging on the monkey bars. Being only two, she couldn't master them very well, and was just hanging there. She started calling out for her mother. Within seconds, her mother ran the distance to catch her precious little girl. Sarah was safe in her mother's arms and just rested there.

As I saw that happen, I thought that that is what Jesus does for me. When I am hanging on the monkey bars, He comes running over and catches me. When I am afraid, He runs over and catches me. When I am hurting, He comes quickly and catches me. When we don't know which way to turn, He comes quickly and leads us. All we have to do is call for help. Like Sarah, we know we are safe. Our "Daddy" is there for us whenever we need Him.

Psalm 145:18-19 – The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. (NIV)

Prayer: Dear Father God, thank You that You care for us. Thank You that You will never leave us nor forsake us. Thank You that You hear us when we call. Thank You that You answer our cries to You. You are our Father and You care for us. We are special in Your sight, God. You have made us. You know each step we take and the steps we are going to take. Through it all, You are there for us waiting for us to call Your name. Amen.
