Isaiah 35:5-6 – When He comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unstop the ears of the deaf. The lame man will leap up like a deer, and those who could not speak will shout and sing! (TLB)
As I flipped the calendar on the first day of February, I found it! I had forgotten that it was coming. But there it was, one whole complete extra day, unstructured, unexpected, and totally available.
When I am pressed for time, I crave that little break. "Some peace and quiet, a day all to myself," I mutter. You know the kind of day I mean. A day without time clocks, obligations, and schedules would be a real treat. I'll bet you would like one too.
Well, get ready! February 29th is on the calendar for the first time in four years! Now we have to plan what to do with twenty-four extra hours. Will we fill it with more of the same old stuff? Will we try to cram in more shopping, cleaning, working?
Or will we offer it up to God as a day of remembrance of His return? Perhaps we could fast from the regular business that drives us away from Him, and spend more time in His presence. A special day deserves special attention.
Prayer: Father, we thank You for the gift of more time. You have given us the answer to all of those prayers that we cry out, about too much to do and not enough time to do it. Help us to use this day wisely, always remembering You with our words and deeds. We love You, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.
