Matthew 18:10 – Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. (NKJV)
A couple of nights ago, fearfully tossing and turning, unable to sleep, I reached up in the darkness to turn my radio on, hoping to find some relaxing music.
Instantly I heard the sweetest voice singing a song I have not heard for years:
- Sleep my child, and peace attend thee,
All through the night;
Guardian angels God will send thee,
All through the night.
My fear was instantly stilled, and I was able to go to sleep. I felt then like a little child whose heavenly Father had come to calm her fears. To me this was no coincidence.
Although we are adults, God still watches over us. We are still His children, no matter how old we are. He sends His ministering angels to guard us, and to relieve our fears. Sometimes, when we are afraid, we tend to forget that He is always with us. Our fears will be dispelled by trust in Him.
Psalm 56:3 – Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. (NKJV)
Prayer: Dear Lord, praise and thanks be to You for being with us all through the long nights, when our fears seem to torment us more. Your many angels surround us more than we realize. May we ever be mindful that we have nothing to fear as long as we cling to and trust in You. Amen.
