Psalm 116:15 – Precious (important and no light matter) in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints (His loving ones). (AMP)
At first, our mailman thought it must be someone's birthday, but then he too offered condolences on the death of my sister. Many kind people remembered us with cards and letters.
One of those cards has become especially important to me because of the Bible verse engraved on the front. I have looked it up in several versions. The thought is the same.
Psalm 116:15 – Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. (KJV)
Psalm 116:15 – Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his godly ones. (NASB)
Psalm 116:15 – How painful it is to the Lord when one of his people dies. (GNB)
God loves us. Every nuance of our life touches Him. He understands our loss because He too has lost a loved one in a most terrible way.
The great news is that Jesus didn't stay dead, and neither do our loved ones in Christ!
1 Corinthians 15:56-57 – O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV)
Prayer: Sometimes Lord, losing our loved ones seems too much to bear. Forgive us for not sharing our grief with You, and for not choosing Your comfort. Forgive us for selfishly dwelling on our own grief, and forgetting about Yours. In Christ's name. Amen.
