Psalm 91:11-12 – For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. (NIV)
Two years ago The Halifax Herald relayed a Christmas story that gripped the hearts of all who heard of it. On Christmas Eve, after a visit with members of her family, a young mother skidded on a narrow turn, and her car careened over the cliff, landing on the beach below. The mother didn't survive the crash, but, around ten o'clock on Christmas morning, neighbours found her small son wandering alone on the beach.
Investigators later determined that the child had been alone for up to twelve hours. When asked about the incident, the child said, "I saw a lady dressed in white, and she helped me."
"An angel?" some people asked. "Is that possible, or was it just a figment of the small boy's imagination?" Yes, I believe it was an angel, for that's the kind of God we serve: a loving, caring God who has promised to be with us in times of trouble; a God who has promised to command angels to guard us in all our ways, and to send comfort during the difficult times in our lives.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your angels to protect us and to bring us care in times of trouble. Amen.
