1 Corinthians 10:13b – God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (NIV)
My cousin in Alaska sent me an interesting picture a while back, and it started me thinking of obedience. In the picture, a baby moose was stuck, legs dangling through the ceiling, and chin resting on the roof of a local greenhouse, where she had crashed through. After several hours of being stranded, people were able to tranquilize the moose, and bring her down to safety. However, she did bear one scar from the experience. There was a large sore on her hind leg where it had rubbed against the rough roof tile.
I don't know moose language, but I expect that this baby's mother had warned her not to venture into such places, but the young one hadn't listened. She had gone her own way, and continued on this path, until she was in a situation where she could no longer move. She needed outside help to rescue her.
Even though God has given us guidelines in His Word, and warned us about leaving His shelter and protection, often, like the young moose, we have tried to make our own way in life, only to find ourselves in situations where we are stuck, and no longer following His plan for our lives. When we find ourselves in this situation, Christ is waiting to help us find our way back to the safety of our heavenly Father. We need only to pray.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, hear our prayer today. Some of us have strayed from Your plan for our lives, and we need Your help. Thank You for Your plan of salvation. Amen.
