My mother, June Heale, whose name many would recognize, suggested that I write a devotional. I responded, "I would not even know where to begin." I felt that I would have nothing of importance to write.
I did not dismiss the idea completely, though, and when I headed to bed that night, I prayed for God's guidance on this. What happened that night was strange: I wrote a devotional in my dream. Upon awakening, the following verse, which refers to those who are resurrected from the dead, kept going over and over in my head: "Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection." (Luke 20:36 KJV)
In my dream, my mother was discussing how the cat she owned was not worth anything, yet my daughter's cat, she had been told, was worth $350.00. She therefore felt that this more expensive cat was more valuable to have than the one she owned.
This made me think about how God does not value any one of us more than the other. How do we know this? What evidence of this is there in the Bible?
Romans 3:22-23 – Even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (NKJV)
Romans 5:8 – But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (NKJV)
Prayer: Father, thank You that Jesus Christ died for our sins, and that You love us all just the way we are. Thank You that we are all valuable to You. Amen.
