Psalm 91:11 – For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. (NKJV)
Hebrews 13:2 – Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. (NKJV)
Quite unexpectedly, a new neighbour, whom we had befriended a while back, dropped in. We actually thought they had moved away. Accompanying the neighbour were her three-year-old and one-month-old daughters.
I was on the phone with my daughter, discussing a serious problem related to our granddaughter's health, when our neighbour arrived. My feeling was rather sad and tearful at the time. I held out my arms to hold the baby. In talking to this young mother, I realized that she was very lonely and housebound with two young children. Many times we think we are all alone in our struggles, and then we realize how much we need each other. We must not despair, as He will indeed send the Comforter to us in our times of greatest need. Sometimes it might be the smile or laughter of a child; at other times it may be an older person reaching out to us in their need. All are blessings sent by God — and angels unaware.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we praise You for the great gift of children and grandchildren, friends and neighbours. Thank You for wiping away our tears by sending these special angels when we are feeling sad. May we realize always that You are the Comforter, and that You always keep Your promises. Help us always to be there for each other. Amen.
