I live in West Virginia, USA, where, during the spring season, we have many flood watches and warnings. Many streams and rivers here overflow their banks.
Without water, life ceases to be. Plants shrivel and die without water. Just imagine being in the desert, where it is hot and dry, and you're walking along, searching for just a small stream.
In this world of spiritual drought, many times we feel as if we are in a dry and barren land. Come! Drink from this water. We no longer have to settle for "just a small stream" of living water. Jesus tells us:
John 7:37-39 – If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. (NKJV)
Are we like a river? Do we want to become like a river? All we have to do is read God's Word, and open our hearts to be receptive to God's river. Let us all become rivers that well up inside with God's love, and overflow our banks to others, to share God's love with them. As we study God's Word and drink from His word, we too may become rivers.
This is your warning: if you start reading God's Word, be prepared to open the floodgates, and let His love spill over to all those you come in contact with.
Prayer: Our precious Heavenly Father, we pray that You will touch our lives today with a fresh filling to overflowing of Your love and Your Word. Thank you for keeping Your promises to us. Amen.
