Fork In The Road

Romans 10:9 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (KJV)

Do you sometimes really have a problem making a decision? Sometimes we reach a fork in the road and wonder which way we should go. I travel north from Pittsburgh occasionally, through a little town called New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. In the middle of town there is a fork in the road. One route one can take is 66 through Clarion; the other is 28, which will take one through Cook Forest. Both eventually meet again in a little Pennsylvania town called Marienville.

Would it not be good if all our choices in life would take us to the right place? If only it were always that easy! In some cases the roads never again meet. Spiritually, the wrong choice is a disaster. The right choice leads to life; the wrong to death. We are asked to choose between light and darkness.

The Bible says that we are all sinners and live in a spiritual darkness. Jesus is the only way out of this. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6 KJV) We have to choose. By not choosing, we have already chosen. This spiritual darkness in which we live leads to death. But Jesus is life. To choose Him is to be forever saved and to walk in the light. The roads are marked. The path is clear. Which way do we choose?

Prayer: Father, we choose You and life in Jesus Christ. We pray to be forgiven, renewed, and born again as followers of our living Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
