Isaiah 42:11-12 – Let the deserts and the towns raise their voices; let the settlements where Kedar lives rejoice. Let the people of Sela sing for joy; let them shout from the mountaintops. Let them give glory to the Lord and proclaim his praise in the islands. (NIV)
A young boy was taking part in the Christmas concert. He was to learn the words of the angel: "Behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all people." He tried earnestly to memorize his lines, but when his turn came, he shouted out, "O boy, have I got good news for everybody!"
He certainly summarized the message well, as it was good news.
The promised Messiah had come at last, and, as a result, there could be great joy in the hearts of the people — God had kept His promise.
The condition of peace so longed for by all mankind was now available through faith in this Wonder Baby, and good will among the nations was possible. Unfortunately, as we know today, that joy, peace, and good-will among nations has not been accomplished because of the rejection of the Son of God, whose birth the angels announced.
But, in spite of the world chaos, we, as individuals, are still invited to accept Him personally into our hearts, and experience His joy and peace. Then we, too, can proclaim the message of the little boy angel, "O boy, have I got good news for everybody!"
Prayer: Thank you, God, for the good news of Jesus! Lead us to someone today, or lead someone to us, who needs and desires to hear this good news. Open our eyes to recognize them, our ears to hear them, and our hearts to share the good news with them. In Jesus' wonderful name. Amen.
