John 20:31 – But these have been written in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through your faith in him you may have life. (GNB)

Romans 8:38 – For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love; neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future. (GNB)

When we want to purchase sporting goods or camping equipment we usually take a look at the major Canadian hardware chain store located in our neighbourhood to see what is available. We have been customers there for several years. I have noticed lately that this store has launched a new television advertising campaign. The target group is families with children. The catchy slogan is "I'll start with you." The premise of these commercials is that if you have the right equipment you will be successful in the activity that you purchased the equipment for.

Each time I see the commercial, I agree with the conclusion, "Funny how where you end up in life has a lot to do with where you start." This statement is especially true in a spiritual sense, for when we start with a relationship with Jesus Christ, this also has a lot to do with where we end up. We have the assurance of salvation from our sins and eternal life with God forever. We also begin a more fulfilling and abundant life in Christ. Conversely, if we do not enter that relationship with Jesus Christ, we will not receive forgiveness for our sins, and we will not have eternal life with God forever. Neither will we have abundant life here and now.

"I'll start with you" is a fitting slogan for all Christians. We'll start in the right place. We'll start with you, Jesus.

Prayer: Loving God, we thank you for giving us the opportunity to be in relationship with Jesus Christ. We praise you that we have access to salvation and eternal life through him. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
