Listen while you read: "Child In The Manger"1 (Lyrics)

Psalm 5:11 – But all who find safety in you will rejoice; they can always sing for joy. (GNB)

I know a mother and daughter who collect angel ornaments and pictures of angels. Together they made a scrapbook by gluing in pretty pictures of angels cut from old Christmas cards. One day, the mother cheerfully indicated to her daughter, who was feeling insecure, "You are my angel." The mother was hoping to help her daughter see how special she was.

Later the girl posed this question to her mother: "Mom, are you going to put my picture in the angel scrapbook?" Without hesitation the mother took out her glue bottle and pasted the girl's most recent photograph along with the other angels in the scrapbook. At Christmas that year, the mother and daughter duo joyfully sought out gifts on the angel theme for one another.

Thankfully, the mother wanted her daughter to feel secure, loved, and special. In a similar fashion, God wants us to feel secure, loved, and special. God will find a way to reach us and to satisfy our longings for security, love, and confirmation that we are special if we but ask.

Prayer: God, you provide for our emotional and mental health on a daily basis. You are our source of security. We give you thanks and praise. Amen.
