Revelation 3:20 – Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me. (NASB)
One day, I received an urgent call from the local co-ordinator of the Cancer Society, asking if I would possibly consider canvassing our street for donations. She had exhausted her list of volunteers, and was in great need of help. I picked up my "kit", and started knocking on doors. What an interesting experience!
Many doors were answered, and neighbours gave what they could. Others politely declined for one reason or another.
I approached several doors where it was obvious someone was home — I could see and hear them. I knocked several times and rang the doorbell. No one came. I heard one person say, "It's just another salesman — ignore him; he'll go away!" Another said, "You expecting anyone? I'm not! Don't answer to strangers!"
Christ may come knocking at the "door" of your soul today. He knows that you and I are home! Will we open the door and welcome Him, or ignore Him, hoping He'll go away? Please, answer the door — eternity depends upon it!
Luke 12:36,40 – And be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks. Be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect. (NASB)
Prayer: Welcome, Jesus! Please, come in to my life today. Forgive my many sins. Refresh my soul, my mind, my heart. Be my Lord and my Saviour. Come in Lord Jesus … and give me your peace. Amen.
