Washed Away

1 Corinthians 6:11 – But now your sins are washed away, and you are set apart for God, and he has accepted you because of what the Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of our God have done for you. (The Living Bible)

One warm spring day, my children ventured outdoors with a bucket of sidewalk chalk in hand. The leaves had not yet sprouted on the trees, and the grass had just begun to turn green.

We drew a number of brightly-coloured pictures on the sidewalk. There were pizzas, suns, starfish and trains. The train track travelled along the entire length of the house.

That night it rained, and when we went out the next day, the children were surprised and disappointed to see that their creations were reduced to an occasional smear of colour. How could the marks drawn only the day before be gone?

Our sins are washed away just as easily. In God's eye, there is nothing left, not even a smudge. Because of the love of God, and the death of His Son, we are made clean.

Prayer: Loving Father, You see our sin, but wash it away. Because of Your love for us, we are made clean. In Your eyes, each day is new. In Your heart, we are Your children. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
