2 Samuel 22:3 – My God is my protection, and with him I am safe. He protects me like a shield; he defends me and keeps me safe. He is my Saviour. (GNB)
For the past year, we have been a two-car family. Last spring we purchased a "new-to-us" van, while the old car still had a little life left in it. My husband uses this car mostly for commuting the 50 kilometres to and from work. We found having two vehicles a great convenience, but when the car needed some repairs, we wondered if it should be fixed, or just sold as junk. It wasn't worth putting too much money into it.
It seemed there was so much wrong with it: the exhaust was loud, it was using a lot of gas, and at times it shook. Also, with emission testing in Ontario, we thought that we would have another added expense.
We took the car to a mechanic, "just in case" it could be fixed reasonably. The shaking problem was fixed easily, and we had an unwarranted muffler put on. Fixing those two problems also solved the gas guzzling. We found out that we are out of the emission testing area, so that was not a problem either. What we thought was fit for the junkyard was actually salvageable.
How God sees things differently! He knows we can be saved. He has faith in us — in what we can become. No matter who we are, or what we have done, all we have to do is go to Him. He will not send us away. He will not suggest another course of action. He is there — waiting for us.
Prayer: Loving God, You can save us. We have only to go to You, and You will fix our broken hearts. Protect us from all things, and keep us safe. Amen.
