Listen while you read: "Lead Me To Calvary"1 (Lyrics) |
Psalm 91:1-2 – He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." (NIV)
One day last month, I walked through town, in a melee of Easter shoppers.
Amidst the hubbub on the pavement, there was a small toddler making his way towards me. I thought that this was a very brave boy — at such a young age — to be walking without intimidation and some confidence among those who were a good four feet taller than he was.
As the boy looked over his shoulder, my attention was drawn to the looming figure three feet behind, who would also have caught the attention of everyone else who followed. This gentle giant of a man who followed the boy displaced with just a look anyone who might be foolish enough to step near his boy.
I felt that this was a reminder that as we walk through perilous situations, apparently on our own, we too can step out in confidence, because our God is a consuming fire! Even though I pass through the valley of death, I will fear no evil, because He is just behind.
As we go through our situations today, let us remember that just one look from Him is enough!
Prayer: We thank You, Lord, for Your promise that those who live in You will always rest in Your shadow. Grant us assurance as we step out to face today's challenges. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
