Psalm 32:7,11 – Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart. (KJV)
Psalm 34:4-5 – I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. (KJV)
Beginning in the 'seventies, there was a half-hour children's programme on television called The Friendly Giant. He was a much-beloved soul, with his warm and gentle manner, letting down the drawbridge and inviting the kids to come into his castle, snuggle up in a rocking chair, sit in a chair, or curl up on a couch in front of the fire.
Coming to a big foot, the children were invited to Look Up, Look Waaay Up! and there they were joined by The Friendly Giant, Gerome the Giraffe, Rusty the Rooster and the rest of his little animal puppet friends.
Such a powerful, yet friendly presence was he, that he became a beloved and trusted friend to child and adult alike. Just the words alone, Look Up, Look Waaay Up! were comforting, for you knew exactly who you were going to see when you climbed with the camera to the very top.
We too, are comforted by Someone to whom we can Look Up, Look Waaay Up!
His drawbridge may be different — we must ask before He will enter. We know He is a trusting, loving, powerful and friendly presence, who invites one and all to come in to His kingdom — and we know we don't have to wait for a certain time to tune Him in. He is always there.
Prayer: Our Father in heaven, help us always to remember to Look Up, Look Waaay Up! to seek Your solace and guidance in our everyday lives. In Your name we pray. Amen.
