"No charge. It was a labour of love." Last year, I was admiring a hand-knitted blanket that my friend, Sue, made for someone as a gift. It must have taken her many, many hours to knit this blanket, as the pattern consisted of small squares spread over the entire blanket. I just loved it! So, I asked Sue if she would knit one for me, and I told her that I would pay her for it. She said she would, but that it would take time, as she also works.
Last week, I got one of those small cards in my mailbox, saying that a parcel was waiting for me at the post office for me to come and pick up. I was excited, and wondered who the parcel was from and what it contained.
When I came home and opened the box, there was the hunter green coloured blanket. With it was a self-made card that read, "Dear Rosy, hope this keeps you snug as a bug in a rug during the cold winter ahead. For a special friend, with love, Sue."
I immediately e-mailed my friend in Ottawa and her reply, "No charge, it was a labour of love," brought to mind the following: Over 2000 years ago, a Father gave up His Son to die on a cross for us, for our salvation. Can you hear the Father saying, "No charge. It was a labour of love!"?
